Carburator rebuild
At Speedco we have a lot of 356 and 911 with carburator engines.
In our workshop we do the rebuild of these carburetors ourselves
We start with disassembling the carburator.
Al parts ar checked and cleaned in a ultrasonic cleaner

Especially the Solex 40PII-4 are oval at the bottom flange. As shown on this picture and the next picture.
This is the result of over-tightening the mounting bolts and an excessively soft foot gasket.
Due to this ovality, the throttle valve is leaking to much and the engine is difficult to idle.
The most Solex 40PII-4 ar worn out on the throttle shaft and bushings.
If the throttle shaft has to much play the engine takes false air. This gives the engine a too high idle speed.
We start with new bushings and a new throttle shaft.
We line bore the shaft bearings in the carburetor housing.
When the bushes have been replaced, we drill the the barrel to the smallest possible oversize.
All other flanges on the carburetor are flattened. For a perfect seal after installation.
Then we make the new throttle valves exactly to fit the oversize barrel.
After putting the carbs together. Adjusting the float level they are as good as new. Ready to install.
